The Stitch/Madeira Competition 2008 - Glimpses of China
Whether you work by hand, machine or in mixed-media, and whether you are a beginner or an experienced embroiderer, you can enter the 2008 Stitch/ Madeira Competition. All entries will be displayed at the 2008 show and who knows, you might be the winner of the coveted Trophy. The theme for this exciting embroidery competition is 'Glimpses of China'. Fashion Embroidery & Stitch, supported by Madeira UK Ltd, is THE textile event of the year, the show, which showcases the very best in textile art! It offers enthusiasts so much more than the opportunity to purchase your own materials; it's crammed packed with latest inspirational textiles from some of the best artists in the UK, plus opportunities everywhere to get going yourself.
Textile Treasures of the WI Exhibition
The National Needlework Archive and the NFWI have worked together to record the textiles belonging to the WI with over 9,000 pieces of work recorded belonging to WI's, Federations, NFWI and Denman College. Some exquisite pieces of work, many of which have a story to tell and some of which are the very essence of the WI.
Stars on The Dance Floor
From the costume designers for Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing On Ice, ICHF are pleased to present a stunning display from the world-renowned couture company Chrisanne Ltd (www.chrisanne.com) The show display will include a selection of outfits from the BBC One smash hit programme Stricly Come Dancing. Each outfit is encrusted with Swarovski rhinestones and lovingly created with individual care and attention to accentuate the dancers' movements and flow with every motion. Chrisanne supplies the majority of the dresses for the female dancers and celebrities on Strictly come Dancing, and has been involved since the programme's inception.
Beading Extravaganza
An exciting display of beadwork from both professional and amateur collections, covering a wide variety of beading techniques. Discover work from the world-renowned company 'Hand & Lock'; plus original 1920's 'Flapper' dresses; African and Indian beadwork plus the Beadworkers Guild's group competition pieces and work from their exquisite private collection.

Fashion Shows
One of the highlights of the show, we proudly present another fabulous catwalk show. Hosted once again by Brenda Killigrew and Inkberrow Design Centre, the show enables talented students and exhibitors the chance to showcase their garments in an exciting catwalk show. The show takes place at 11.00, 13.00 and 15.00 daily - so take your seats, relax and enjoy the spectacular!
Knitted Gingerbread House
This life-sized knitted 'Hansel & Gretel' style Gingerbread House is an amazing knitting project featuring everything you could find in a house, including a full size bed, Welsh-dresser, stove and cuckoo clock and has been lovingly created by 1,000's of people to raise money for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity.

This year we have a brilliant cast list, embracing a talented range of experts including international textile artist Bailey Curtis exhibiting her exciting and colourful felt work, with her latest book; Susan Chapman acclaimed quilt artist and author; Fay Maxwell combining traditional and experimental embroidery techniques and author Joan Gordon demonstrating ribbon embroidery.

Plus we are pleased to welcome the prestigious textile group Prism, established by Julia Caprara of Opus School of Textile Arts, with a diverse and dynamic display of work. These are just a small selection of the many experts from textile groups, solo artists and Guilds who will be on hand to advise and inspire!
Hot Textiles
Brighton based textile artist and tutor Kim Thittichai will be exhibiting exclusively this autumn at the ICHF shows, signing copies of her new book 'HOT Textiles!' alongside an exhibition of work from her book and demonstrations of many new techniques.
